GC Motorsports International & Driver Andrew Ranger Land 3rd on the Podium Overall In the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series

September 25th, 2012 – Toronto, Ont. – On Saturday, September 22nd Kawartha Speedway hosted the Pinty’s 250 to conclude the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) presented by Mobile 1. This was the scene of the most exciting race of the season featuring several highlight-reel crashes, exhilarating competitive racing, and a pit-lane brawl between two teams at the conclusion of the race. Andrew Ranger closed out the season with a hard-fought 2nd place finish and 3rd overall position in the championship.

Ranger and the car were incredibly strong qualifying 3rd for the race. The #27 GCMI Dodge Challenger experienced some minor car setup problems throughout the race but consistently remained in contention with the leaders of the race. Ranger was the only driver who was able to find success and maintain speed, racing high and low sections of the track allowing him to make a push for the race win in the final two laps. “It was a tough race for us, I’m really happy to have finished second,” Ranger said. “We struggled with this car all season, so it was a good finish for us. What’s exciting is how well we finished off this season, a sign that we’ll be ready for 2013.”

GCMI would like to thank all of their generous 2012 NCATS partners & sponsors who made the season possible. A heart felt thank you goes to Quebec-Primary Sponsor, Dodge Dealers of Quebec and Western Canada-Primary Sponsor, Pizza 73. GCMI corporate sponsors Pizza Pizza, CRS, Aurora Electric Supply, Riverside David Brown Trucking, Surgenor Truck Group, Lou’s BBQ and Autodrome St. Eustache all helped make our season a success and for that GCMI is grateful.

GCMI was proud to support their charitable partners Canada Company and The Michael “Pinball” Clemons Foundation both financially and through association and exposure to the team and NASCAR as a whole. Finally we would be a miss if we did not recognize our amazing fans that showed tremendous support for the team and Andrew Ranger.

The Pinty’s 250 presented by Dodge will premiere Saturday, October 6th on TSN at 4:30 p.m. ET, and in French Wednesday, October 24th on RDS2 at 9:30 p.m. both featuring a special 90-minute program covering the championship festivities.

Ranger Contends for Race Win in Antigonish

September 20th, 2012 – Toronto, Ont. – Antigonish, Nova Scotia was the site of the Wilson Equipment 300 at this past weekend’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race. After having tightened up the Championship standings, Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) ran a very strong race and seemed to be the only strong contenders for the race win.

Ranger and the car were incredibly strong as the #27 GCMI Dodge Challenger was the only car applying pressure in the race on championship leader DJ Kennington, trying to further close the points gap. Ranger held 2nd place for 50 laps distancing himself by 5 second between the rest of the field. At lap 181, fortune changed slightly when Ranger’s front suspension broke. The team was able to make the repair during a pit-stop resuming the race five laps down.

Not indicative of the team’s overall performance, Ranger finished 12th unfortunately distancing himself further from the points leader. Ranger will look to close that gap on the point leader in Kawartha with a strong finish to the end of the 2012 NCATS season.

The NCATS season finale, the Pinty’s 250 presented by Dodge at Kawartha Speedway is on Saturday, Sept. 22nd at 5pm.

Andrew Ranger Overcomes Season Oval Woes & Finishes 2nd In the Wahta Springs 300

September 14th, 2012 – Toronto, Ont. – Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) have successfully tightened up the point standings with a 2nd place finish in the Wahta Springs 300 at Barrie Motor Speedway this past Sunday. The event was postponed from Saturday to Sunday due to torrential rain.

Ranger escaped an exciting crash filled finish to come home with a solid 2nd place but gained greater success in the points Chase after the leader DJ Kennington had mechanical problems early in the race finishing last. “It’s always interesting to come here and race in Barrie, it’s an exciting place. We may not have had the fastest car, but the #27 GCMI/Aurora Electrical Supply Dodge Challenger proved that it can close the end of races,” said Ranger. The team’s strategy was to conserve the car for the finish, where favourable fuel and tire conditions would increase the cars speed over the field. On the second-last lap, the #27 was racing the #84 of JR Fitzpatrick who was blocking Ranger while trying to pass, resulting in rear contact and sending the #84 for a spin. “I should have probably lifted (off the gas) but was racing hard to the end with the points being so close. GCMI wants to prove we can make a strong push to the finish the season. Having secured the 2nd place finish, we will now look to see what we can do in Antigonish, NS and Peterborough Ont.”

Ranger remains 2nd in the championship standings but tightened up the margin from a 33 point difference to 14 points as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series comes to an end with the final two races. On Saturday, September 15th, the Wilson Equipment 300 will be at Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia.

The Wahta Springs 300 will air Saturday, September 15th on TSN at Noon ET, and again Wednesday, October 3rd on RDS at 10 p.m. ET.

Andrew Ranger & GC Motorsports International Show Well in Montreal

August 21st, 2012 – Toronto, Ont. – Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) were featured in Montreal at the NAPA Auto Parts 100 & 200. Ranger & the #27 Dodge/GCMI Challenger drove in both the Canadian Tire series (NCATS) and NASCAR Nationwide (NNS) captivating the hearts of the Montreal faithful with a 2nd place finish in NCATS and a heartbreaking 32nd place DNF in the NNS.

In the NCATS race, Ranger started in 2nd pole position retaining the position for the duration of the race where he also finished. Ranger and the 60,000 fans at the race were disappointed as NASCAR called a caution after drivers had taken the white flag; thus sealing the positions and not allowing them to race to the checkered flag. In the NNS, Ranger started 12th and ran very strong eventually trailing leader Danica Patrick for 2nd place. Unfortunately, Ranger was unable to finish as a result of rear suspension challenges resulting in the DNF.

The NCATS returns to Ontario with a visit to the always eventful Barrie Speedway on Saturday, September 8th. With three races left in the season, the points standings are tightening up, Ranger still holding on to 2nd place. GCMI, Ranger and the team look forward to closing the gap in the Points standings and providing an exciting finish to the 2012 season.

The NAPA Auto Part 100 Montreal will air again on TSN Tuesday, August 21st at 3:30pm and 11:30pm, on TSN2 Wednesday, August 22nd at 8:00pm and Friday, August 31st at 1:00am and 3:30pm.

Andrew Ranger & GC Motorsports International Conquered the Grand Prix de Trois-Riviere

August 07th, 2012 – Toronto, Ont. – Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) halted DJ Kennington’s record setting season with another win of their own, their second of the season at the JuliaWine.com 100 at Circuit de Trois-Riviere. The win marks Ranger’s 16th Career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) win, his 4th at Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivieres.

Ranger behind the wheel of the No. 27 GCMI Dodge Challenger- dominated after a two hour rain delay taking the lead from J.R Fitzpatrick on Lap 10 of the race never looking back. On the 2-Lap shootout restart, Ranger was able to regain some of that lead built earlier and finished 2 seconds in front of J.R. Fitzpatrick. “With the weather creating challenging track conditions, our car was still able to remain very strong which has been a struggle for us the majority of the season. It was disappointing to see that final caution come out towards the race-end as I had worked very hard to gain the 8 second advantage, but it worked out for us in the end. I want to thank Dodge and the GCMI team for putting together a great car this weekend” said Ranger. The win elevates Ranger in to 2nd place in the NCATS driver standings.

GCMI, Ranger and the team look forward to the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal at Circuit Giles Villeneuve. Both GCMI and Ranger will be featured in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race and NCATS race driving the #27 GCMI Dodge Challenger. “This will be another chance to display my talents in my home province in front of fans, family and friends. I look forward to competing for the NCATS Quebec hat-trick and racing against the likes of Danica Patrick and Carl Edwards in the NNS”, says Ranger.

The Julia Wine 100 will air on TSN2 on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 9:30 p.m. EST, and on RDS2 on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 10 p.m.

July 30th, 2012 - Toronto, Ont. - Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) ended a three-race Western Canadian road trip with 11th, 7th, 6th place finishes in Vernon, Edmonton, and Saskatoon respectively. The team crew was able to provide flawless pit stops which allowed Ranger to lead at times in races, and ultimately secure two top-10 finishes and remain 3rd in the overall NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) standings. July 24th, 2012 - Toronto, Ont. - The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) returned to Edmonton during the IndyCar weekend on Sunday, July 22nd for the Edmonton 100. The NCATS Edmonton 100 was dominated by Scott Steckly but late race drama allowed NCATS points leader DJ Kennington to win the race. GC Motorsports International (GCMI) driver Andrew Ranger took 7th place to remain 3rd in the overall standings.

Ranger and GCMI were strong all weekend long, registering fastest lap times during practice on Friday and Saturday while qualifying 2nd for Sunday's race. "It was unfortunate we could not get a better result for new sponsors Pizza 73 and the team who worked hard all weekend to give me such a competitive car. But we overcame some brake problems to finish in 7th place." said Ranger.

Andrew Ranger Revved-Up for the Lucas Oil Grand Prix after 4th Place Finish in Bowmanville

June 1st, 2012 - Toronto - The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is back on track June 2-3 for the Lucas Oil Grand Prix at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Que. Andrew Ranger and GC Motorsports International (GCMI) are excited to return to the Quebec native`s home province after finishing 4th in the Vortex Brake Pads 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The Season opening race was exhilarating from start to finish with a side-by-side finish, and the top 4 places all decided within 2 car lengths. As the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series' all-time leader in wins at 14, Ranger has been particularly tough to beat on road courses within the borders of his home province, where he has rock star-type popularity. In 11 Quebec road-course starts, he has driven to Victory Lane six times - three each at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Circuit de Trois-Rivieres (Que.). His start, last season in the series' inaugural event at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Que., looked to be headed in that direction, but it didn't quite turn out that way.

"I am excited to be sporting Dodge Dealers of Quebec on my race car this weekend", said Andrew Ranger. The two time, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Title winner is looking forward to racing the #27 Dodge Challenger on June 3rd at the Lucas Oil Grand Prix, Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, QC.
